Message From the Clerk
I would like to thank all the voters who took the time to cast their ballot—whether absentee or in person at the polls. Overall, we had a 32% turnout, with 3,864 of our 11,938 registered voters participating.
It was brought to my attention by our election inspectors that many voters were unsure why they received a ballot at home. In 2022, when Proposal 2 was passed, the Township was authorized to create a “permanent ballot list.” Our intent was to eventually stop mailing out ballot applications.
In 2024 and 2025, the ballot applications we mailed included an option allowing voters to join the permanent ballot list. By selecting that option, you agreed to automatically receive a ballot by mail for every election. This also means that if you will not be at your Bangor Township address (for example, if you travel south for the winter), it is your responsibility to notify our office so we can send your ballot to your temporary address. During our February election this year, we had over 100 ballots returned due to voters being temporarily away. We are now maintaining a list of temporary addresses and can mail ballots directly to you if that information is provided.
If you are on the permanent ballot list, you have several options:
1. Vote your ballot at home and return it by mail, in person, or place it in the drop box.
2. Vote your ballot at home and bring it to your precinct on Election Day to insert into the tabulator yourself. This allows you time to research your choices while still participating in the in-person process.
3. Surrender your ballot at the precinct on Election Day and vote in person at the polls.
If you would like to be removed from the permanent ballot list, you may do so by submitting a signed letter to my office.
Please know that we are always available to answer any questions or address concerns you may have regarding voting. There have been many changes in recent years, and our goal is to make the process as clear and accessible as possible for all voters.
Thank you again.
